Aircraft Mechanic (NIGHT SHIFT), WG-8852-10/11

This position's primary purpose is to perform typical journey-level Aircraft Mechanic duties and in addition, perform aircraft engine/APU run-ups, head turns, and/or aircraft taxi duties plus senior journey-level troubleshooting duties on a regular and recurring basis. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments at the WG-11 level include:
Serving as a senior journey-level mechanic with duties unique to aircraft engine run-ups, auxiliary power unit (APU) run-ups, rotor head ground turns, and/or aircraft taxiing in keeping with the normal practices of the airframe serviced. Conducting a functional test of repairs or modifications to ensure proper operation. Coordinating work of other mechanics in troubleshooting systemic problems encountered. Repairing and adjusting a variety of aircraft mechanical systems, components, and assemblies. Tracing and locating defects and determining the type and extent of repair/adjustment needed. Demonstrating or explaining proper techniques, method of operation, and safety practices. At the WG-10 level, is responsible for developing skills and knowledge to be fully qualified and certified to perform Aircraft Engine Runups, Head Turns, and/or Taxi duties. Must be able to obtain and maintain certification. At the WG-11 level, must be fully qualified and certified to perform Aircraft Engine/APU Runups, Head Turns, and/or Taxi duties. Must be able to maintain this certification. THIS IS A NIGHT SHIFT POSITION Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:
Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. (Screen-out Element) Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation repair etc. Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of measuring instruments Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment Troubleshooting National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
