Inventory Management Specialist, GS-2010-09/11

At the full performance grade level of GS-11, this position is responsible for maintaining, ordering, and positioning material in support of the depot level maintenance facility and Coast Guard air station maintenance program for a category of complex materials. The primary purpose of the position is to manage inventory items.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.Typical work assignments include:
Planning, expediting, forcasting, coordinating, analyzing, resolving and reporting on all supply involvement pertaining to material or system managed. Using the Aircraft Maintenance Management Information System (AMMIS) to maintain inventory control records and provide real time information on the location, quantity, and condition of all Coast Guard aviation assets. Developing and managing a budget for procurement of material and services in support of managed items. Determining quantities of major equipment to be purchased and initiating procurement actions for the purchase and/or repair of components or parts based on demand history, stock position, reorder points and lead-time. Coordinating with engineering personnel to initiate action to identify a source or develop new sources for problem items or no quote from vendors. At the GS-09 level, performs less complex inventory management work under closer supervision. Applicants for the GS-09 grade level must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service applying basic knowledge of directives, policies and procedures governing inventory management principles, laws, and regulations to provide basic information to managers and employees about common issues or problems related to supply requirements, and experience working with automated inventory control systems. Applicants may also qualify at the GS-09 grade level by successful completion of a Master's or equivalent degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.B or J.D., if related, from an accredited college or university. Applicants for the GS-11 grade level must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service performing work such as long range supply and demand planning; analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of supply programs and or operations; analyzing and resolving difficult/unusual issues and problems with inventory management; and initiating and monitoring the procurement of items characterized by a long or fluctuating procurement lead time where there are difficult supply and demand patterns. Applicants may also qualify at the GS-11 grade level by successful completion of a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M, if related, from an accredited college or university. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
