Sheet Metal Mechanic (Aircraft), WG-3806-10

This position supports the entire Coast Guard fleet of HH-65/HH-60J/HC-130/HC-144/C-27 aircraft, and works on sheet metal components removed from aircraft for repair.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
Developing patterns and templates lay out, cut, form, join, and assemble items and systems. Evaluating structural damage to sheet metal systems, structures or items in order to plan and layout repair and modification projects. Using complicated shop mathematics to figure irregular curves, angles, and pitch. Performing various welding tasks using independent judgement. Performing assessments and properly heat-treat metals of all kinds to direct specifications and temper, and is certified in heat treating procedures and processes of several maternal grades, series and heat treat classes used in aircraft repairs and manufacturing. Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired.Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:
Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN-OUT).Knowledge of Equipment, Structure, Materials, etc. (includes constructing repair,and forgoing).Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading).Layout and Pattern Development (includes Geometric Projection and Triangulation).Ability to Use Hand Tools, Power Tools, etc., for Metal Work.Dexterity (Assembly Disassembly Reassembly etc.)National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
