We are seeking qualified candidates for a potential opening as a full-time Operations Research Analyst in support of the U.S. Coast Guard Aviation Logistics Center (ALC), Business Operations Division (BOD), in Elizabeth City, NC. The ALC enables Coast Guard mission execution through depot level maintenance, engineering, supply, procurement, and information services. The BOD improves the overall effectiveness of the ALC by supplying business intelligence and operational, financial and performance analyses.

The Operations Research Analyst applies mathematical modeling, statistical, and quantitative techniques to analyze supply chain operations and make recommendations for the optimal use of resources. She/he is responsible for developing analytical models for strategic and tactical decision-making, perform data analysis and support innovative supply chain solutions. The individual is part of a collaborative team of experts charged with finding ways to optimize operations at the ALC.
Qualifications:
o MBA or Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Management Science, or Statistics
o Qualified to obtain U.S. Government security clearance
o 2-3 years of relevant experience, preferably 3-5 years
o Proficient in Excel, Access, and statistical software
o Experience working with complex and large volumes of data and databases
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
o Proficient in modeling and simulation, such as linear and non-linear optimization applications
Key
Responsibilities:
o Work with logistics managers to determine operations research techniques, develop methodologies, conduct analyses, and recommend solutions
o Perform mathematical and statistical analysis, including Pareto analysis, testing statistical hypothesis, regression analysis, and probability calculations
o Model solutions in the deterministic and stochastic domains
o Analyze supply chain data for internal vs. external repair recommendations
o Design, interpret, and manipulate logistics and fiscal management models
o Create metrics to determine performance of the models
o Collaborate with customers and teammates to identify and evaluate opportunities for operational improvements
