Technical Writer
DLS Engineering Associates Inc, a government engineering logistics services firm, is seeking a qualified candidate to fill immediate openings as full-time Technical Writer to support the development of technical publications, instructions, and policy from conception through publication of the information to the web and/or hard copy at the US Coast Guard base in Elizabeth City North Carolina.
The incumbent duties will include:
o Providing services in developing and updating technical data. Technical data development is defined as any new technical data which is not in sustainment. All technical data prepared, submitted, and stored shall conform to standards as defined in CGTO PG-85-00-270-A Aviation Technical Publication Development Process Guide.
o All tasks for technical data development shall be assigned and documented within HEAT and properly updated showing full journal notes regarding all steps toward completion of the requested technical data development. All attachments for technical data development, shall be maintained within HEAT for archival purposes.
o The incumbent shall meet or exceed the calculated target date for each assignment.
Documentation of the following will include, but is not limited to:
o Maintenance Manuals
o Overhaul Manuals
o Structural Repair Manuals
o Illustrated Parts Catalogues
o Maintenance Procedure Cards
o Time Compliance Technical Orders
o Operators Manuals
o Flight Manuals
o Archives/Reproductions
o Wiring Manuals
o Tools and Equipment Manuals
o Weight and Balance Manuals
o Technical Orders (TCTO and SCTO)
o Process Guide
o Perform studies and evaluations of technical information issues and programs for the Government when required. These studies may include research and evaluation of information systems, technologies, and processes. The results shall be provided to the Government in the style and format defined by the Government.
o Validate specific technical information to ensure accuracy of technical data. Procedural information will be validated as designated by the Government
Required
Qualifications:
o Minimum five (5) years of experience writing aviation technical manuals.
o Must have experience in aircraft and/or systems supported.
o Experience in ARBORTEXT desktop publishing software used in support of technical publication production. Copies of training certificates with this type of experience are required.
o Must possess exceptional writing and verbal communications skills.
o Must have intermediate computer skills and knowledge of the following Microsoft programs; DOS, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint.
o A citizen of the United States of America or a Permanent Resident.
