Position
Responsibilities:
The worker's chief focus in on a child's safety and protection.
The worker is responsible for making reasonable efforts to maintain the child safely in the home, but when safety in the child's own home cannot be assured, the agency is mandated to take immediate action to protect the child by providing safe, nurturing substitute care.
Worker provides the most intensive services and contacts to families with the greatest needs, while those with fewer needs receive less intensive services/contacts; delivers services within the context of the family's own community culture; identify risks in their work with families; provides families the option of receiving supportive/voluntary services as available where there is low risk of harm; engages families in the planning process while producing better outcomes of safety, permanence, and well-being for children.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of social work principles, techniques and practices, and their application to complex casework, group work, and community problems.
Considerable knowledge of a wide range of medical, behavioral, and/or psychosocial problems and their treatment theory.
Considerable knowledge of family and group dynamics and a range of intervention techniques, governmental and private organizations, and resources in the community, laws, regulations, and policies which govern the program.
General knowledge of the methods and principles of casework supervision and training.
In certain settings, considerable knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes and their treatment as they relate to decisions regarding clinical interventions and appropriate therapies based on medical or psychological diagnosis.
Skill in establishing rapport with a client and in applying techniques or assessing psychosocial behavioral, and psychological aspects of client's problems.
Ability to supervise, train, or instruct lower-level social workers, students, or interns in the program.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of caseload and their families, as well as civic, legal, medical, social, and religious organizations.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively.
Minimum Training and
Experience:
Master's degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work experience; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling experience; or Master's degree in a counseling field and two years of social work or counseling experience; or a four-year degree in a human services field or related curriculum and three years of social work or counseling experience; or graduation from a four-year college or university and four years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling or a related human service field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work or community organization; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
One year of work experience can be credited for completion of the social work collaborative.
Degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Directly related experience is defined as human services experience in the areas of case management, assessment and referral, supportive counseling, intervention, psycho-social therapy and treatment planning.
Other Requirements:
Experience in Child Protective Services In-Home Services or Child Protective Services Investigation/Family Assessment is preferred.
The individual must possess skill in relating to people and be able to communicate and interpret information to people.
The individual must be in good physical and mental health and able to work overtime when required.
The individual must be able to make home visits, to transport children and be able to do physical tasks associated with children and their care.
Flexibility in work habits and relationships with others is essential.
This individual must be bondable.
This individual must have a valid North Carolina driver's license and access to a vehicle.
Typing test is required.
College transcript is required.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
