Position
Responsibilities:
This position is housed within the ICPTA department and serves duel purposes for agency.
This position will provide transit services to Chowan, Perquimans, Pasquotank, Camden, and Currituck counties by operating medium vans to transport clients to a variety of places.
The position maintains safe operation of the vehicle, loads and unloads wheelchair clients, and maintains preventive maintenance records.
This position will also function as the district mail courier for the 8 counties of Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Gates, Hertford, Pasquotank, and Perquimans.
Interagency mail will be delivered as well as medical records, nursing information, lab specimens, and cash.
Key Duties:
Employee must be knowledgeable of the proper operation and minor maintenance of the assigned vehicle.
Position must practice safe and defensive driving techniques.
Position must follow traffic laws and regulations.
Position must have knowledge of the proper loading and unloading procedures of all ICPTA clients.
Position must be knowledgeable of all relevant route areas.
Position must be able to follow driver manifest instructions.
The position is responsible for preventive maintenance of vehicles assigned on a daily basis.
The position will complete and record daily inspections of the vehicle using a checklist.
All problems or concerns must be reported to the office supervisor immediately.
Responsible for the retrieval and delivery of mail within the district and Albemarle Commission as needed.
Courier any and all items identified to go to other counties along with interoffice mail.
See postal staff for Certified mail, processing as necessary.
Position will also communicate with postal staff about notices of held items in PO Box.
Responsible for delivery of lab specimens on a daily basis.
Position may have to pack specimens/vaccines when a lab tech is not in the counties.
Position will deliver specimens to appropriate labs upon arrival.
Follow immunization guidelines for proper storage and transport of vaccines.
Maintain lockboxes for agency.
Position will also carry protected personal information as directed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of traffic laws and regulations.
Working knowledge of the proper methods of loading vehicles and safe operation of the vehicle.
Ability to service and provide minor maintenance to the vehicle.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Minimum Training and
Experience:
Completion of grammar school.
Special Additional Requirements:
Position must submit to pre-employment, random, and accident drug and alcohol testing as required by federal law.
A quarterly DMV record check will be completed to ensure this position has a clean driving record.
Appropriate North Carolina Driver's License for the weight and type of vehicle operated as required by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Applicant must be able to pass a DOT physical.
Agency Preference:
Current CDL with passenger endorsement.
Considerable knowledge of routine operational procedures of the courier service, the proper methods of handling certain parcels, and the correct procedures for loading vehicles.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to perform tasks involving frequent physical exertion.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
